"...the vibes they send out, the feeling you get from their reactions to each other when they are on screen together..."
Chemistry.....hmmm, to me, chemistry between a TV couple is the vibes they send out, the feeling you get from their reactions to each other when they are on screen together. Their interaction can bounce right out of the television screen and into your living room and involve you, the viewer, right into their relationship. So, maybe I'm trying to say that it's their ability to involve you in something that is supposed to take place strictly between two people...but it is so potent, that it sucks you right in. That's what jumps to mind when I think of Maddie and David's chemistry. Their chemistry had so much vitality that it was almost a third character...you could feel it, you could see it, you could cut it with a knife.
There are so many scenes that are good examples of this, it's hard to pick one. Some are funny, some are serious. One of my favorites is their debate leading up to the bet in "My Fair David". It's a great example of their strong personalities and you can literally see the sparks flying around the room. Another is their tiff in "Lady in the Iron Mask" where Maddie, upset over a murder, expresses regret at having David for a partner....and her later apology to David, thanking him for being her partner. In "Every Daughter's Father.." when David has to tell Maddie about her father.....There are tons more...the series is filled with great moments between them.
